The Amansie West District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) is expected to register 60,000 people by the end of the year.
The scheme has registered a total of 35,978 people as at May ending.
Mr Oscar Asare Andor, the Scheme Manager, said this when the District Chief Executive, Mr Ben Kwakye-Adeefe on behalf of the National Health Insurance Council (NHIC) presented a Nissan cabin pick-up to the scheme at Manso-Nkwanta.
He said the scheme has embarked on an outreach education programme to register more people.
He said the government considered the health needs of the people as top priority hence the introduction of the scheme and appealed to those who have not yet registered to do so.
Mr Kwakye-Adeefe said the district assembly has provided a motor bike and an office to the scheme.
