The President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, is confident Ghanaians would retain his government in office after the 2012 general elections.
The president who said he was unfazed by criticisms, both from within and outside his party, told party supporters, Tuesday, in the Brong Ahafo Region that he would remain focused on his development agenda.
“No amount of diversionary tactics will move us from our desired goal and objective”, President Atta Mills said this ostensibly as a reply to his detractors during the first day of a three-day working tour to the region.
The president reaffirmed his faith in God, believing that with Him all things are possible.
“I have always said that God is with us, and therefore, no obstacle or impediment will be too much for us. We shall succeed as a party, we shall succeed as a government and we will fulfill out better Ghana Agenda.”
Whilst the President tours the country and holds meetings with party executives, ex-President Rawlings is doing same. The former president is in the Ashanti Region where he is alleged to have warned members against supporting the President for a second term in office.
But aide to former President Rawlings and deputy NDC General Secretary, Kofi Adams would not categorically say if his boss is against President Mills.
The development is said to be deepening the rift between President Mills and party founder, Mr Rawlings.
