A Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has condemned comments he says seek to divide the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) party.
He says attempts by some leaders within the party to sow seeds of discord by discriminating among members portend danger for the ruling party’s forward march.
His comments come two days after ex-president Rawlings accused unnamed individuals within the NDC of running down his party in order to build the Convention People’s Party (CPP).
But speaking to party members at Nima, Mr. Ablakwa said the party needs members from all walks of life in order to grow.
“If you listen to some of our leaders; some of the comments that they are making are even inimical to party growth,” he said.
In a direct reference to Mr. Rawlings’ comments, the Deputy Information Minister said, “Some people have been asking; where did these CPP people come from? Where did these PNC people come from? Who are these strangers? I thought as a party we will be happy that we are growing bigger, and bigger and bigger.”
He said the NDC should be seen to be welcoming all manner of persons into its fold instead of discriminating against others.
