Mr Frank Annoh Dompreh, the Eastern Regional Youth Wing Organiser of New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed concern about attacks on the judiciary by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in recent times.
He said since the acquittal and discharged of the 15 suspected killers of Ya-Na Yakubu Andani, overlord of Dagbon, by the Accra Fast Track High Court, some members of the NDC had launched verbal attacks on the judge who handled the case and the judiciary in general.
Mr Dompreh told the GNA in an interview that the attacks were a serious threat to justice and democracy.
He appealed to the NDC to stop the noise and live up to its 2008 campaign promise made to the people of Dagbon and produce the killers of the Ya-Na for them to be prosecuted.
Mr Dompreh said the NPP would continue to defend the judges and the judiciary as an arm of government with the "last drop of their blood".
He urged the judges to discharge their constitutional mandate without fear or favour.
Mr Dompreh accused the NDC as a party and government for lying to the people that they knew the killers of the Ya-Na and one-and-half years into their administration failed to act until a threat by the Andanis.
He appealed to the leadership and members of the NPP not to be swayed by the confusion in the NDC but to remain focused and explain the good policies and programmes of former President John Agyekum Kufour to the electorate and market Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the party.
