A Kente Village Project is being established at Kensere in the Asante-Bekwai Municipality as part of an initiative to create wealth and jobs, particularly for the youth in the area.
It is the brainchild of the Member of Parliamentof the area, Mr Joe Osei-Wusu.
A "Kente Festival" would be held at Akyeremade, near Bekwai, during the Easter celebration to put on public display "kente" products and designs, Mr Samuel Agyapong Marfo, a member of the Planning Committee, told the GNA.
He said a showroom had been prepared at the municipal headquarters, Bekwai, to attract more tourists and that the three-day event would be climaxed with a grand durbar of chiefs on April 24.
Other activities include beauty contest sponsored by Coca Cola Bottling Company, football gala and thanksgiving service.
Mr Marfo appealed to all citizens of the area to join in the effort to bring jobs and boost the economy of the area.
