The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Adu Yeboah, has described as unfounded the allegation by former President Jerry John Rawlings that some leading members of the NDC are buying votes ahead of the national delegates' congress of the NDC.
Mr Yeboah said no vacancies had been declared by the Party for any position and that no one has filed to contest and therefore it was not possible that vote-buying was going on.
He told the GNA in an interview that even the date for the congress had not been announced yet.
Mr Yeboah said the Central Region, which is the home-base of President John Atta Mills, did not know anything about vote-buying and would never engage in such practice and urged the former President to provide evidence to prove the truth of his allegations.
Ex-President Rawlings made the allegation at a meeting with the Ashanti Regional executives of the NDC in Kumasi, urging them to denounce that "unhealthy development" because the party was founded on the "ideals of integrity and transparency".
