The governing National Democratic Congress has announced the date for its presidential primaries.
The congress at which the person to lead the party into the 2012 elections will be held on July 8, 9, and 10, 2011 at Sunyani.
The decision was reached Friday at a National Executive Committee meeting attended by President JEA Mills, former president Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu, Majority Leader Cletus Avoka and all other persons who matter in the NDC.
The congress is expected to put to rest the rancour that has persisted in the party regarding the flag-bearership.
Joy News' Araba Koomson who was at the Trade Fair Centre, venue of the crunch meeting said nomination will be opened on May 3-10, 2011.
Mrs Rawlings has hinted she might contest the sitting president for the position, but aide to the ex-first family Kofi Adams told Joy News when nominations open the media will appropriately be informed on the decision by Mrs Rawlings.
He described the meeting as successful and calm.
Journalists were not allowed entry into the meeting and officials are tight-lipped, Koomson said.
