The former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has denied reports making rounds that she refused to get up when President Mills was ushered into the meeting room during the National Democratic Congress'(NDC) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Friday at the Trade Fair in Accra.
Some people have questioned the rationale behind her decision to break protocol when the President arrived for the crunch meeting to decide on ground rules towards the party's presidential primaries.
But speaking to Kweku Sakyi Addo on Newsfile on Joy FM and also on the Joy News Channel on MultiTV Saturday, Mrs Rawlings stated that she did not see President Mills coming into the auditorium as his arrival was not announced.
She indicated that she was prompted by another party official who was seated next to her at the time the President arrived and even though she got up late, she did.
Mrs Rawlings insisted that she was not brought up to disrespect anyone and that she will have gotten up on time if the president's arrival was announced early enough.
The former first couple have expressed disappointment at the actions and sometimes inactions of President Mills with reports making rounds that Mrs Rawlings intends to challenge the president during the party's primaries.
Asked whether she was going to contest the presidential primaries, Mrs Rawlings said when the nominations are opened she will decide on whether to pick nominations or not.
Meanwhile the NDC has picked July 8 as the date to conduct its presidential primaries.
