A former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Ohene Ntow has said former President Rawlings may subvert Ghana’s fledgling democracy if civil society groups, religious and traditional authorities do not condemn his persistent unguarded attacks on President Mills.Nana Ohene Ntow described the former president’s incessant attacks on President Mills as a threat to national stability.Speaking to Citi FM on Tuesday, Nana Ohene Ntow said “President Rawlings has increasingly demonstrated his regret for contributing – as it were - to the development of democracy.”He indicated that Mr Rawlings was never truly happy with the introduction of the democratic process and that “these things that he is doing lend credence to the fact that he will wish democracy itself is undermined again.”Nana Ohene Ntow therefore called on Ghanaians not allow Mr. Rawlings to continue with such unwarranted attacks on the president.Mr Rawlings has however vowed to continue criticising the Mills administration, insisting that no attacks on his person from politicians or the media will deter him from doing what he thinks is right.At a press briefing held in his office and addressed by his aide Kofi Adams, Mr. Rawlings accused a section of the media of deliberately distorting his comments designed to spur the government to arise to its responsibilities.“I want to assure you that the former president and founder of the NDC will continue to raise very critical issues that affect this country and the NDC.
