Licensed cocoa buying company, Armajaro, says it is reviewing its rules on employee conduct to discourage its workers from engaging in cocoa smuggling.The Ghana Cocoa Board temporarily suspended the company following revelation by ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, whose video footage showed some workers aiding smuggling of cocoa beans to Cote d’Ivoire.The ban has since been lifted after what the COCOBOD says was Armajaro’s commitment to conscientise its staff on the ills of smuggling.Managing Director in Charge of Cocoa Business of Amajaro Ghana, Davis Colaric, tells Luv News the company has a high stake in maintaining its business and professional integrity.Meanwhile, Armajaro has, through its Cocoa Traceable Foundation, invested over two million dollars to improve water and sanitation as well as education in 52 communities in which it operates.The foundation which seeks to improve the lot of local communities, has drilled over 150 boreholes to provide safe drinking water for beneficiary communities.Head of the foundation, Fred Frimpong, tells Luv News the company has earmarked additional one million dollars to embark on more projects.Story by Elton Brobbey/Luv Fm/Ghana
