The General Manager of the Ghana News Agency has been asked to proceed on leave.Joy News has learnt that the GNA board asked Nana Apau Duah to proceed on leave with effect from April 15, 2011.He is expected to hand over to the Supervising Chief Editor, Boakye Dankwah-Boadi.The directive follows a meeting last Tuesday and attended by workers and management as well as Information Minister John Tia.The GNA has been rocked by workers’ agitations since last month for the removal of the General Manager. The workers claim the General Manager has ran down the news agency and have appealed to government to terminate his contract.Secretary to the Communications Union, Felix Attuquaye Quaye told Joy News, Nana Apau Duah’s removal is welcome news.He however charged government to appoint a competent business minded person to take over.Source: Joy News/Ghana
