The New Patriotic Party is accusing President John Mills of re-commissioning old projects already commissioned.
The president has over the past few weeks gone on a nationwide tour, during which he commissioned many projects and cut the sod for new ones, and reiterated earlier pledges to complete old projects.
But the NPP insists the president only engaged in re-commissioning of old projects and took credit for those he did not even start.
Brong Ahafo Regional NPP chairman, Kwaku Asuma Kyeremeh cited Effianso electricity project which he said was commissioned by the president but which according to him, was completed and commissioned by the NPP.
He also cited the Techiman Municipal Assembly block which he said had been completed by the NPP.
“He (President) is doing this to throw dust into the eyes of people and to court their sympathy towards the 2012 election. He seems to be harvesting where he has not sown and he does re-commissioning,” he challenged.
His concerns are no different from the ones made by the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Obuasi Edward Ennin who accused the District and Municipal Chief Executives of deceiving the president.
According to him, the Nshiaeso Electricity Project which was commissioned by the president on Wednesday had long been commissioned in 2007.
“I believe the DCE and the MCE are deceiving the current president. An electrification project that was initiated, commenced and completed by the NPP government in 2007 was commissioned by the president yesterday. I was shocked that people can deceive the president this way,” he said, adding, the evidence of commissioning is at the Ministry of Energy.
He also accused the president of commissioning smaller projects even he a Member of Parliament will not delight in commissioning.
“I believe that a president is even above commissioning a project of that nature. He goes to a small community to commission an electrification project. It is above the president that is why we did not invite President Kufuor at that time to commission that project. President Kufuor was commissioning big time project not this small project that I even a Member of Parliament will not commission,” he said.
