A presidential aide, Nii Lante Vanderpuye says the incessant complaints by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that President Mills has failed to acknowledge their contribution in development projects indicate their ignorance of governance.
He argued that governance is a continuous process and so there is nothing wrong if the Mills administration continued projects started by the NPP.
The opposition NPP accused President Mills of deliberately failing to acknowledge the Kufuor-led administration for projects it started and which the NDC has completed.
They insist that the president is only engaged in re-commissioning of old projects and taking credit for those he did not start.
On Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Nii Lante explained that the previous administration has been duly recognized for projects they started, explaining that “President Mills has continually given credit to projects that was started by the NPP”.
According to him, some projects are long-term and would need successive governments to complete them.
He said President Mills’ priority is to conclude projects started by his administration and not a focus on completion of other people’s projects.
He noted that, even though it is important not to politicize issues, the government also needs commendation for completing most of the projects it began after only two years in Office.
Nii Lante Vanderpuye who described President Mills recent tour of the Ashanti region as a success, said “the Better Ghana Agenda is a vision in progress; it's continuing and signs are showing."
