District chief executive for Jirapa, Bernard Kofi Puozuing has said the disbursement of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) is tied to the local revenue being generated by the assemblies adding the more funds you are able to generate from the Internal Generated Funds (IGF) the more district assembly common fund you will get to tackle your development needs.In order to encourage the collection of IGF in his district, Mr. Puozuing announced that future development projects at the area councils will be tied to the amount of IGF area councils generate. The DCE made this known at the first ordinary session of the assembly at Jirapa.The meeting which is the first by the assembly since the March 15 inauguration had 55 of the 62 members present. The DCE called on the members to work together for the systematic yet steady development of the district and in the same vain work to achieve the better Ghana agenda been espoused by President Mills."Funds are the life wire of every progressive organisation. Without funds nothing can be done. Future development projects at the area councils will be tied to the amount IGF area councils generate."The Jirapa DCE cautioned unit committee members who are yet to be sworn in to office but have started operating to desist from that especially in the area of revenue mobilization."Let me caution that the unit committees for now cannot do anything until they are officially inaugurated commence business. Any unit committee member who does that is doing it at his own peril," he said.Earlier, the presiding member of the assembly, Evans Sunkari was sworn into office and he called on the members to work as a team in order to ensure the success of the assembly.Story by Rafiq Salam/Joy News/Ghana
