About 50 residents of Tema will appear before the court on Monday for refusing to partake in a recent clean-up exercise.
The Tema Metropolitan Assembly which is taking the action says some of the culprits had heaped refuse in front of their shops and homes while others opened their shops on the day of the exercise.
The MCE, Kempes Ofosuware says this contravenes the by-laws of the assembly.
He said the action is necessary following numerous announcement and sensitization done by the assembly before the exercise was undertaken.
He said not only did some of the residents not turn up; they added insult to injury by opening their shops when the announcement was to the contrary.
He believed the action will be punitive enough to ensure future compliance.
