The Chairman of the African Union for Housing Finance, Mr Samson Moraba has paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, at the Manhyia Palace.The visit of the head of the Pan-African housing body was to inform him about their Annual General Meeting scheduled for Accra in September, a statement from the Manhyia Palace said.AUHF is a continental body with 30 members from 18 African countries, including HFC Bank and Ghana Housing Finance Association. Other financial institutions which have applied to be members are Barclays Bank and Ghana Home Loans.The September 17–21 annual General Meeting would be on the theme: “The Future of Housing Finance Towards Affordable Housing and Infrastructure.”Mr. Moraba said AUHF was looking at delivery of affordable houses for the lower income bracket, adding that they would tap the experiences from various countries and learn from them.He appealed for land in the Ashanti region for a housing project when the time became due.Otumfuo Osei Tutu thanked Mr. Moraba for giving him the brief about AUHF and said the real constraint in delivery of houses was funding.He said it was refreshing that the AUHF had plans to assist groups and estate developers to undertake housing projects in 30 countries.The Asantehene pledged his support and co-operation to the group and expressed the hope that they would have a successful meeting in September.Source: GNA
