The Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP) has dedicated this year’s May Day Celebration to the hundreds of thousands of unemployed men and women, especially the youth of Ghana.
In a statement signed by its Chairman and Leader,Ladi Nylander, the CPP said it recognizes the contribution of workers to our lives all over the world and therefore wants to take the opportunity to congratulate the Trade Unions Congress (TUC) and all allied workers’ groups for sustaining our motherland through their handwork.
“As we celebrate this all important day,the CPP is concerned that the many unemployed in Ghana, especially the youth, would be left out not because they desire not;are unwilling, lazy or do not work hard. They would be left out because they just can not find work to do” said Mr.Nylander.
"To resolve the increasing unemployment problem, we call on government to take deliberate and urgent steps, through the use of state economic power and the delivery of reliable utility and public services, to create and maintain a conducive entrepreneurial environment that will make industrialisation thrive in Ghana again.
"As a developing country, guided by the CPP ideology of Self
Determination, Social Justice and Pan Africanism, we maintain that the state must lead the process of re-industrilisation for the private sector to follow. That is “How the CPP Will Do It” for it is the only way the unemployment situation in the country will be solved.
CPP wishes workers in Ghana a very happy May Day!
