Former NDC General Secretary, Dr. Josiah Aryeh has publicly endorsed Nana Konadu against President John Evans Mills in the upcoming flag-bearership race scheduled for July 8 to 10.Dr. Aryeh was forced to resign his General Secretaryship in 2004 over betrayal allegations. He was alleged to have betrayed the party to the opposition NPP for $3,000.He says he will be speaking at Nana Konadu’s campaign launch Wednesday and is also going to play a key role in her campaign to lead the NDC into the 2012 elections.“I have an official invitation, I will be there and I will be speaking also… I will be vouching for the candidate,” he revealed adding that he will be speaking in the capacity “as somebody who has been very close to the party’s apparatus and somebody who could speak for here.”Dr. Aryeh disclosed his unflinching support for Nana Konadu affirming that, “Certainly it will be unturnable for me to speak for her if I don’t support her candidature. I support democracy within the NDC and I support democracy across the entire spectrum of Ghanaian politics that the more competition we have in our politics, the better quality of politicians that emerges.”He hinted that irrespective of who stands to contest the party’s flagbearership, he will support Nana Konadu against that person not only President Mills. “I am going for her against who ever, we don’t know whether it is only President Mills who is coming forward but against who ever steps forward.”In an interview with Citi FM Dr. Ayerh said he is confident that the former first lady has a brighter chance of annexing the flagbearership stating “I think she has bright chances I wouldn’t supported her if I don’t think so. I think she is fairly capable of holding her own,” adding that she is a very effective team player.He unequivocally said he does not care if Mills' camp tags him as a political enemy due to his support for Nana Konadu’s presidential ambition, calling for a politics of respect irrespective differences in views and ideologies.“I am not a parochial minded person… [the] personality politics of this country is far too much. If a person sticks his neck out, if he puts his head above the [limits], speak for something he believes in… I think that ought to be respected.“Whether some people develop animus against me or not, I don’t really care.
