Vehicular traffic on the Danquah Circle - Ring Road Central came to a suffocating choke mid-morning Thursday as thousands of NDC supporters streamed their way to the headquarters of the ruling National Democratic Congress to witness and cheer President John Evans Atta Mills as he picked nomination forms to seek re-election to lead the NDC into Election 2012. But President Mills, who only on Wednesday was handed a barrage of criticisms by his only other contender so far in the race, Mrs Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, was his magnanimous self and wished his opponent well as the party prepares to go to congress in July to elect a leader. The President who assured the former First Lady of a free and fair Congress come July 8, was accompanied by several ministers of state as well as party functionaries. He was welcomed by thousands of supporters, some of whom were reported to have thronged the party headquarters at dawn. During the launch of her campaign on Wednesday, Mrs Rawlings and her husband former President Rawlings raised concerns about vote buying which they claimed had plagued the NDC as it prepared toward its Congress.
