An anonymous man is reported to have attempted to pick up nomination forms on behalf of the Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Ekwow Spio Garbrah.General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia told Joy News the man failed to meet the conditions under which he will be allowed to pick up the forms.Two people - President John Mills and ex-First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings - have both picked up forms to contest the party’s flagbearership position in July.Ekwow Spio-Garbrah who contested then candidate Mills in the 2006 primary and lost has yet to pick a form even though he has not hidden his intentions to vie for the highest position of the land.In an earlier interview with Joy FM Monday morning from his London base, Dr Garbrah would not confirm or deny media reports suggesting he will pick up the forms for the flagbearer position.He said however that he will make his decision known on May 10, 2011, the deadline for the picking of forms.Later in the day however, the General Secretary of the party said a man whose identity he did not declare came to the office office in an attempt to pick the forms but returned after failing to meet the requirements.He has since not returned, he added.It is not clear if indeed Dr. Garbrah had sent the anonymous man to pick the forms on his behalf.Mr Nketiah however maintained the vice chairman has until tomorrow to pick up the forms but must first resign his position.“If he submits his resignation letter it takes immediate effect and then he can proceed to pick the forms," Nketiah noted, adding, he has about one month like all the others to return the forms.He said for anybody to take the forms on behalf of another person, that person must have the power of an attorney before he would be allowed to pick it.His only challenge was that the position for which the nomination forms is being picked is so crucial it must be picked by the interested person and not a third person.
