A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mike Ocquaye Jnr has said he is convinced the Mills campaign team is splashing GHS 90 million to woo party delegates to vote for President Mills to retain his position as the flag bearer of the ruling party ahead of election 2012.According to him, there is an iota of truth in Herbert Mensah's claims. The former Chief Executive of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Herbert Mensah in an interview with Adom FM earlier this week alleged that he and former President Rawlings are privy to information which suggest that President Mills campaign team have earmarked an amount of GHS 90 million for delegate to ensure a one touch victory for President Mills over Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.He based his claims on a security tape he intercepted from the Castle.Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Mike Ocquaye Jnr stressed that the allegations by Herbert Mensah must not be brushed aside but should be interrogated thoroughly to establish the truth. He noted that, GHS 90million could be tax payers money and so the government must come out with their side of the issue. The National Security intends to invite Herbert Mensah who is in Addis Ababa with former President Rawlings on an AU trip to substantiate his claims. But the failed aspiring parliamentary candidate of Dome/Kwabenya said attempts by National Security to invite Herbert Mensah to substantiate his claims is just an attempt by the government to intimidate him adding that it is just “bully boy” tactics.
He observed that for two leading persons in the party to contest a sitting president is a sign of failure and incompetence of the Mills administration.Mike Ocquaye Jnr. also took a swipe at the ministers of state whom he claimed abandoned their work and spent productive hours following the President to the NDC headquarters just to pick his forms.Story by: Adwoa Gyasiwaa/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
