A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has questioned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's choice of Dominic Aduna Bingab Nitiwul as Defence Minister.
Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe says the choice of the Deputy Minority leader in the sixth parliament lacks the experience to handle such a sensitive Ministry.
Even though he retained his seat in the 7th Parliament of the fourth Republic he now has an extra responsibility as a Minister.
Political Background
Mr Nitiwul won the by-election in March 2002, after Mohamed Ibn Chambas had vacated the seat to take up his new job as the Executive Secretary of the Economic Community of West African States.
He has served on the Appointments Committee, Business Committee, Committee of Selection, Finance Committee, Roads and Transport.
Speaking to Joy News' Gifty Andoh Appiah on The Pulse, the former Army Captain in the Ghana Armed Forces said he believes "a more senior person should have been put there."

Although he could not easily tell who would have been appropriate for the position, he noted that having served in the military, age plays a crucial role in that setting.
"I think they [military] would be more comfortable with a very senior figure. If you have observed, throughout our history, very senior persons have been put there," he said.
Dr Tamakloe who said he only knows the 39-year-old Member of Parliament (MP) of Bimbilla from a distance advised that having to deal with the military who are straightforward in their dealings, Mr Nitiwul should shed off any "peck of arrogance" as that would irk them.
"He should be polite and calm in his office," he added.
