The Offinso Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police Charles Botwe, has appealed to all Ghanaians to join in the fight to check corruption in the society.
This, he said, was crucial to the growth of the country's democracy and the promotion of good governance and added that people should be bold and expose offenders to help bring them to justice.
He was speaking at a public lecture organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to mark Constitution Week celebration at Offinso.
"The state of Ghana's democracy in terms of corruption in 2011" was the theme.
Mr Botwe blamed the political crisis in many African countries on corrupt practices and said this was the more reason all should support the government's anti-corruption drive.
He said the situation where those who controlled wealth influenced voters with money was unhelpful to the development of democracy.
Mr Thomas Owusu Agyemang, the Offinso Municipal Director of the Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), appealed to people to co-operate with the police and other constitutional bodies like Economic and Organized Crime Office Auditor General's Department and CHRAJ to deal with the canker.
Mr Edmund Adumatta, the NCCE Municipal Director, said they had stepped up their campaign to help the people to have better understanding of their civic rights and responsibilities.
Nana Agyen Mensah, Kyidomhene of the Offinso, said there was the need to sensitize the public to stay away from corrupt practices.
