The President of the Ho Polytechnic Accountancy Students of Ghana has denied categorically, allegations of sexual misconduct against the students.
Gbande Mustapha told Myjoyonline.com the allegations are untrue and are only a calculated attempt to dent the reputation and image of the Polytechnic.
The students were alleged to have sexually molested some female students of the Ho Nursing Training College during a float; stripped one of them naked and inserted their fingers in her private parts.
Others were also said to have removed their penises and flaunted them in the faces of the student nurses, yelling invectives at the nurses and calling them prostitutes.
The students were also accused of looting some shops in the vicinity.
Authorities of the Ho Nursing Training College have made an official complaint to the Police who have begun investigations into the matter.
Even before the Police come out with details of their investigations, the student’s body said the allegations are cooked up.
According to Gbande Mustapha the students indeed went into the premises of the Training College as part of the float but did nothing untoward.
He said his colleagues only danced with the ladies of the Ho Nursing Training College; something they do anytime there is any entertainment activity organised by either of the two institutions.
He said there was no sexual misconduct by students of the Polytechnic; if anything, the townsfolk who joined in the float could be held liable for the allegations of sexual misconduct.
He also accused the media of trying to tarnish the image of the institution with tramped up allegations and failing to crosscheck from students of the Polytechnic.
He however implored the security agencies to fast-track investigations into the matter.
