The Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson has rendered an unqualified apology to Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, a flagbearer aspirant of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) over a publication by the paper on his allowances as a Board Member of Anglogold Ashanti.According to him, “it wasn’t deliberate or that we are out for mischief. He admitted on Good Evening Ghana that he is a member of Anglogold Board”.The Tuesday, May 24 edition of the Daily Dispatch reported that Dr Spio-Garbrah earns $10,000 every month as a Member of the Board of Anglogold Ashanti.Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Ben Ephson conceded that the paper got the amount wrong because they did not know which of the boards Dr. Spio-Garbrah served. He explained that “If you are a member of Anglogold Global, you take $10,000 a month; if you are a member of Anglogold Ghana Board you take $3,500 a month“.Ben Ephson added that Dr. Spio Garbrah also erred by not stating that he is a member of the Anglogold Ghana Board.Meanwhile Dr. Spio Garbrah earlier on Adom FM rubbished the Daily Dispatch publication, adding that he has the interest of the nation at heart and will not indulge in selfish acts that would cost the nation a lot of money.Story by: Adwoa Gyasiwaa/Myjoyonline.com
