The Gonja Traditional Council and the Yagbonwura have lost an appeal challenging the re-instatement of the Buipewura, Abdulai Jinapor. For more than a year the council has been in court contesting the position of the Buipewura. The Yagbonwura who is president of the council last year announced the de-skinning of Buipewura Abdulai Jinapour after both got into a disagreement. Though a high court later re-instated the buipewura Abdulai Jinapour, the council was unimpressed and appealed the decision. But on Thursday, the Appeals Court in Kumasi threw out that appeal. Spokesperson for the Buipewura, Dr. Ahmed Jinapour hoped the Gonja Traditional Council will respect the decision. He said on several occasions the Buipewura has won his case in court but the Yagbonwura remained intransigent. He hoped Thursday’s appeal verdict will end the animosity between the two and the rule of law will be allowed to take its course. The Court of Appeal also awarded 500 cedis cost against the Gonja Traditional Council. Source; Joy News/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
