The Agona Swedru Circuit Court has remanded a 19-year-old school drop-out who attempted to rape a female teacher in her residence.
The plea of Philip Acquah, a drop-out of the District Assembly Junior High School (JHS) Agona Kuotu, was not taken and he will reappear on June 3.
Prosecuting, Sergeant K. Boadu, told the court presided over by Mr Nathaniel K. Osam that on May 24 the accused was arrested at the door of the female teacher’s residence at mid-night when he attempted to force the door open and have sex with her.
He said this was after the chief and elders of Agona Duotu, after receiving reports that some people had been knocking on the doors of female teachers at midnights and threatening to have sex with them.
This compelled the chiefs to form watchdog committee that led to the arrest of the culprit. He said after the formati1on of the committee, their mobile phone numbers were given to the female teachers to call when they heard any usual knocks on their doors.
According to the prosecution, when the accused went to knock on the door of the teacher on May 24 she texted the committee members who moved in and arrested Acquah and handed him over to the Agona Duakwa Police.
The prosecution said the accused admitted to the police on the day of his arrest that that was the forth time he had made an attempt to enter the female teacher’s room to have sex with her.
