The Ghana Immigration Service has received a Spanish grant of two million euros to purchase a digital border surveillance system to enhance security at the Aflao border.The service has also installed a software for the processing of passengers at the border to enhance service delivery, the Minister of Interior, Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah told Parliament on Tuesday.He said under the border control programme, the GIS had budgeted to provide blocks of residential flats, a two-storey command office and the completion and furnishing of the departure hall at the Aflao border.On the Ministry's plans to solve the acute residential accommodation and transportation problem facing the Madina Police administration in Accra, he said government was negotiating with the India government to secure a loan for the construction of new flats for the security agencies.He said the government is also keen on solving the transportation problems facing the police service and that it is expecting some vehicles from South Africa to be distributed to all districts and units without vehicles.Source: GNA
