The opposition New Patriotic Party says former president Jerry Rawlings has no moral authority to accuse the party of corruption.
Mr Rawlings at the June 4 celebration in Kumasi accused the NPP of presiding over corruption during its eight-year rule.
Mr Rawlings also accused President Atta Mills of conniving with the NPP to perpetrate corrupt acts.
The Communications Director of the NPP Nana Akomea in an interview with Joy News however said Mr Rawlings accusations are baseless.
According to him, the 19 years rule of ex-president Rawlings falls short of anything close to good governance.
He argued that after riding on the back of probity and accountability to take over the country through the barrel of the gun, Mr Rawlings imposed a culture of silence for 11 years under a military dictatorship.
After transiting to civilian rule, Nana Akomea maintained the ex-president ‘smuggled’ indemnity clauses into the 1992 constitution in order not for him to account for his 11 years stewardship under military rule.
He said such a person cannot mount a moral high horse and accuse others of being corrupt.
