A Sekondi District Magistrate's Court has ordered Kofi Tanor, an unemployed to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for 24 months for stealing a bunch of cassava valued at GH¢ 1.00 (¢10,000).
The accused, who pleaded guilty would be imprisoned for six months in default of the bond.
Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Godwin Bawa said at about 10am on July 15 this year, an eyewitness saw the accused who lived at Asemansuado in Sekondi emerging from a farm at Kweikuma.
He said the eyewitness approached the accused who was holding a polythene bag containing cassava and questioned him how he came by it.
Sergeant Bawa said the accused could not give a reasonable answer and ran into a nearby bush as soon as he saw Akuka approaching.
He said the accused was arrested and handed over to the Police.
