The Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Mr. Ben Ephson has cautioned the National Democratic Congress and its followers not to be carried away by research results predicting a win for the party's flagbearer in Election 2008.
A group of researchers who work for Prof. John Evans Atta Mills says he will win at least 65 percent of votes in next year's elections.
But Ben Ephson says the NDC should tread cautiously.
He told Joy News that even though he was yet to read the research report, besides not knowing the sample size of the said research, he said Election 2008 has 18 months to go and a lot of things could change.
Ben Ephson recalled that prior to Election 2004, he had conducted a poll on the chances of the various candidates long ahead of the elections, which put President Kufuor way ahead of the competition, however subsequent ones saw huge drops in his popularity until the actual elections result gave him a lower than the first poll result.
He however cautions the NPP that the elections would not be an easy fight, and if the party failed to manage its internal differences well, may well aid an NDC victory.
Ben Ephson said he had just started a quarterly poll ahead of the elections and would therefore not attempt any guess work as to the reality or otherwise of any polls.
