MTN Ghana has appointed Indian Rahul De as its new substantive Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)and John Hoffman as Chief Technical Officer (CTO).De replaces George Andah who joined competitor Airtel as CMO at the continental level, and Hoffman replaces Ebenezer Albertyn who also joined Airtel at the continental level as CTO.In the absence of George Andah, Clement Ofori Asante acted as the CMO and saw MTN through the preparatory stage of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) among many other things.Information from De’s LinkedIn profile indicated he was Head of Hub Marketing for Reliance Communication in Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa areas handling 3G, CDMA, GSM before moving to MTN Ghana.Prior to that, he was the Head of Prepaid, under Retail Marketing at Aircel, a subsidiary of Maxis Communications in Berhad, Malaysia.
De was also onetime Head of Marketing at Airtel in India.
He is a graduate of Symbiosis Institute of Foreign Trade, Allahabad University in India.Hoffman is an alumnus of Aalborg University, and a Board Member of the German-based Cabinet System A/S and owner of Comtalk A/S, a Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP)-based telecom solutions service provider in Europe.Prior to coming to MTN Ghana, he worked as CTO in a number of organisations including Malaysian-based Maxis Communications, Wataniya Telecom of Kuwait, and Telenor Nordic Mobile, where he was also one time the Chief Information Officer.Story by: Samuel Nii Narku Dowuona/Adom News/Ghana
