A tipper truck loaded with sea sand Friday crashed into a Kia Saloon car with five persons, three of them school children.
The accident happened at Amanfro junction in the Ga South Municipality.
Apart from the driver who suffered a fracture and some bruises, the other passengers also sustained minor injuries
The accident, which occurred a few meters away from the Amanfro bus stop at 4:30am involved three cars and was said to have been caused by some recalcitrant commercial drivers who had parked their cars in the middle of the road to pick passengers.
According to eyewitness accounts, a trailer carrying used heavy duty tyres was forced to stop when the driver saw the commercial vehicles parked on the road.
The tipper truck and the salon car which were closely following the trailer, in an attempt to avoid hitting it, ran into each other.
It took onlookers a couple of minutes to rescue the trapped passengers and rush them to the hospital.
