The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court has sentenced Musa Issifu, a 26-year-old farmer, to 24 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 15-year-old student on a farm at Akyem Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District.
Police Chief Inspector Ben Osei Kwadwo told the court that on July 14, the mother of the victim sent her and the junior sister to farm to uproot cassava and harvest pineapples.
Issifu followed them to the farm, drew a cutlass and asked them whether they came with somebody.
The victim told Issifu that they came with their father but the convict threatened to butcher them.
The junior sister took to her heels but Issifu grabbed the victim and ordered her to call her sister back or else he would kill her.
The victim called her sister back and Issifu ordered her to watch what he was going to do.
Issifu removed the victim's pant, brought out a piece of cloth from his pocket, spread it on the ground and removed his trousers.
He gave the victim several slaps, pushed her to the ground and had sex with her while her junior sister watched.
Issifu helped the victim to uproot cassava, harvested the pineapples and ordered them to relax for sometime.
The prosecutor said Issifu ordered the junior sister to play with his penis and defiled her. The victim, who was a virgin, bled.
Issifu told them to go home with their foodstuffs and as he was following them they heard somebody talking in the bush but the convict warned them not to talk and later fled into the bush.
The victims on reaching home informed their mother about the ordeal and she took them to the Asuom Police Station to lodge a complaint.
Issifu was later traced at Sankobaase near Asuom and was arrested.Source: GNA
