The Member of Parliament for Offinso South, Dr Owusu Achaw Duah, has appealed to his constituents to avoid the "pull-him-down" attitude and other negative traits else the development they were all looking for would not be accomplished. He said although he was elected not long ago negative attitudes and behaviour from people if they continued would not augur well and could impede his efforts to ensure continuous and proper development of the constituency. Dr Duah was speaking at a Thanksgiving Service organised by the Offinso Local Council of Churches, the district assembly and the traditional council in his honour. He called for support from all and expressed regret that people were complaining about lack of money in their pockets. "Indirectly the government is putting money in people's pockets through the National Health Insurance Scheme, the School Feeding Programme and the Capitation Grant." Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, the MP for Offinso North, said the world had changed and that developments going on in other countries were not based on natural resources but on human resource development. "We all need to have a change of mind and with honesty take education seriously and we would prosper as a nation," he said. Nana Wiafe Akenten III, the Paramount Chief of Offinso Traditional Area, told Dr Duah not to stop praying to God for wisdom and knowledge and this would carry him through as an elected leader for the area. "Remember that you have a charge to keep and you will render accounts to the people and God." Reverend Daniel Yaw Ampratwum, Offinso District Pastor and Minister of the Maranatha Assemblies of God, said in a sermon "let us look at the peace we are enjoying as a nation, does this peace exist in our neighbouring countries?" He said because of the peace Ghanaians were enjoying, some people were abusing it by indulging in criminal and anti social activities. "Leaders in the country, including religious leaders, traditional authorities and politicians, have a lot to do to change the lifestyles of the people."
