Tullow Ghana Limited has presented an amount of GHS30,000 to the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, towards the organization of the first ever National Science Congress in Accra.
The event, which takes off this month has the theme “Water, Sanitation and the Environment – Securing our Future through Science.“
Highlights of the congress include presentations from the fields of science and industry in Ghana as well as exhibitions of science projects, culminating in an awards ceremony for individuals who have distinguished themselves in science.
It will attract participants from the science community, industry, Local Government and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
Commenting on the presentation, Dr. Toni Aubynn, Head of Corporate Affairs, Tullow Ghana Limited, underscored the importance of science and technology in national development, adding that the congress is an initiative that Tullow felt was worth supporting since the oil industry utilises a great chunk of human resources with scientific backgrounds.
“The presentation is to demonstrate Tullow’s commitment to giving back to the community in which we operate,“ he stated.
Professor Marian Ewurama Addy, Chairperson of the National Planning Committee, commended Tullow Oil Ghana for this initiative, saying it was an indication of the importance the company attaches to the development of science in the country.
