The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Gong Jianzhong, has indicated his country's readiness to share its agriculture and technology expertise with Ghana as part of its bilateral commitment to the country.
He said his country had over the years under the Communist Party, advanced in mechanised agriculture and scientific tech¬nology, which Ghana could tap to enhance its economy to achieve the 'Better Ghana' agenda.
Mr. Jianzhong said almost every available land in his country had been utilised for agriculture but noted that the same could not be said of Ghana which had a vast uncultivated arable land which could be put to good use with the help of the Chinese government. .
Mr. Jianzhong gave the assurance Thursday at a press launch of the 50th anniversary since the signing of the Treaty of Friend¬ship between Ghana-China which comes off on August 18.
He noted that Ghana is the second country in the sub-Saharan region to have established strong diplomatic relations with China.
"Great efforts have been made by the leadership and the people at all levels of both countries to promote and enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two countries" he stated.
Mr. Jianzlong said despite the differences in national conditions and social systems in China, the country was willing to remain supportive to the development of Ghana as stipulated in the treaty.
"We will stick to the principle of peaceful development and inter¬national relations as well as mutual beneficial cooperation in all forms of collaboration with Ghana and to help the Ghanaian economy to develop" he noted.
He called on the general public to support the traditional friendly relations between the two countries and assist in the implementation of the "Better Ghana" agenda.
The president of Ghana - China Friendship Association (GHACHIFA), Mr. Kojo Amoo-Gottfried, said the association's goals were laudable and within the spirit of the true friendship that was envisaged during the signing of the treaty in 1961.
He said the vision of the association was to increase the effort of Ghana towards the attainment and enhancement of sustainable devel¬opment.
"GHACHIFA will want to see Ghanaians benefiting from the China and the Chinese people more than the proceeds from Ghana's discovery of oil" he noted.
Mr. Amoo-Gottfried said that though China was far advanced in trade, Ghana was yet to show interest and explore the business op¬portunities that could be used to penetrate the Chinese market.
