The first batch of traders at the Kumasi Race Course Market will move to the new Abinkyi Market on Tuesday to pave way for construction work to begin on the Sun City Project.
A time-table for relocation was agreed upon at a meeting of the Ashanti Regional Security Council, traders and other stakeholders on Friday.
Work on the Sun City Kumasi Project is almost two months behind schedule as a result of reluctance of traders to vacate the site.
Nhyira Fm's Ohemeng Tawiah says members of the Federation of the Race Course association went on a demonstration last Thursday to demand an extension in the relocation period and the cost of the shops at the new market.
In view of this the Public Relations Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Godwin Okumah Nyame based on the interaction the assembly has had with the traders, there will be an extension in the relocation period.
He however called on the traders who have already acquired new shops at the new Abinkyi Market to begin moving there before the relocation plan starts.
