Ghana Commercial Bank Ltd. (GCB) has been adjudged the best bank in Africa with effective fraud control and compliance inherent measures in its procedures and operations in rendering MoneyGram payment services.
Of the banks in Africa which render Moneygram payment services, GCB won the reputational “Excellence in Compliance and Fraud Control Award” of Moneygram International.
Moneygram commended GCB for having developed and implemented robust systems which assist tellers in verifying customer identities before making payments.
The award was presented to GCB at the Moneygram Africa Agent Partner Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa from 5th to 9th April 2011.
Moneygram said agents play an integral role in preventing criminals from using this money transfer service hence the recognition of GCB’s efforts.
GCB in addition to developing a thorough teller training regime has established a dedicated call centre to assist the tellers with fraud-related queries.
The Bank with the largest network of branches nationwide (156) also proactively reports and follows up each and every suspicious activity.
GCB’s extensive spread and network has made payment of MoneyGram remittances the most accessible in Ghana.
