The Ga West District assembly has begun embossment procedures for taxi cabs in the district to compliment the efforts of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly in ensuring that all taxis are emborsed with numbers. This process is to ensure the safety of passengers and drivers and to collate data on taxis in the district and the metropolis as a whole. The project which started a week ago, will end when the district is
satisfied that it has all taxis operating in the assembly embossed and comes in the wake of deadlines given by the AMA, MCE,Mr Stanley Adjiri Blankson to taxi drivers to have their taxis emborsed or face legal action.Mr. Obodai Wentum, Project Cordinator for Ga West District Assembly said each driver pays 250,000 cedis, the same payment in the Accra metropolis and noted that about a hundred cars have been worked on.He urged passengers to keep the registration numbers of taxis they board/pick because this exercise is in their own interest.Paper Pen Systems is undertaking the project and every driver is
expected to provide their documents which includes driver’s profile and Renewed Driver’s License, vehicle particulars and renewed district assembly recognition sticker.Source: ghanadistricts
