The Mfantseman District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Robert Quainoo-Arthur, has inaugurated a nine-member committee to over see the naming of streets and numbering of houses at Mankessim.
The government recently voted GH¢600 million or(60 billion cedis) for the naming of streets and numbering houses in some selected cities and towns including Mankessim.
Mr. Quainoo-Arthur commended the government for the exercise since apart from making for easy identification of houses while the naming of streets would be used to honour prominent citizens who contributed to the development of communities.
"A nation or a community, which does not honour its heroes and heroines is not worth dying for," the DCE stated and said the exercise should have been carried out long ago.
He appealed to the members to show commitment to ensure that the project was completed on time.
The DCE said that the data collected would also be used by the Assembly to prepare development plans for the communities and to facilitate revenue collection.
He urged members of the Committee to ensure that correct data was compiled.
Nana Ataapim Kweenu VIII, Presiding Member of the Assembly who is the Chairman of the Committee assured the DCE that a reliable data would be complied.
