She has been labeled and called many names but Nana Ekua Amoah popularly known in the music circles as Mzbel thinks people misjudge her for her actions.
To her she has to portray her profession as a musician and she can’t do that in another way differently from what she is doing now.
Mzbel is in the news once again and apart from her latest album which is almost out, she has officially ended her contractual agreement with one of the leading music production and artists Management Company’s in the country – Goodies Music Production.
Mzbel said; ‘I was not feeling comfortable at all under my contract with Goodies. I told him I wanted to leave and do things on my own. He didn’t like the idea because I still had a year to serve on my contract which ends in the middle of next year”.
“There was a little misunderstanding, thanks to the MUSIGA President, Alhaji Sidiku Buari, who interfered and we solved this amicably. I must say it has paid off since I left because I have managed to record my own album and as you can see I am putting final touches to my new video”.
Mzbel who is a trained music video editor director was the main brain behind her new video which is scheduled to be on TV by the end of this week.
“All my new videos would be fun-filled, exciting and would get music lovers glued to their seat anytime the video is been shown”.
On her 10 – track album entitled “Kiss Me” Mzbel describes it as a more matured side of Mzbel that the public has not seen before.
“This album would set standards and I am so happy that I did most of the things on my own. Some of the tracks on the album are; “Kiss ME”, “Edey Bee”, “Mepe”, “Faye Me”, “Atupa”, among other yet to be released hit tracks.
Some of the hiplife giants on the album are Castro D’ Destroyer, Screwface, Shilloh, Kwabena Kwabena and Kofi B”.
Mzbel is now hooked onto Ondbox (Pronounced On the box) Entertainment Network which is run by Leke Aderohunmu, a Nigerian businessman.
Ondbox would produce, market and manage all the affairs of Mzbel. It must be noted that Ondbox Entertainment Network is one of the heavily patronized and popular pay-per-view- TV networks in Nigeria with links to other European countries.
Mzbel together with her formidable dancers are set to embark on a promotional tour in Nigeria, Europe and the Americas were they would perform at several shows.
Her dancers whom she describes as superb have been with her since she entered the music industry. Bernice Naa Dedei Botchway and Casandra Owusu have been the two main pillars who have backed and danced for the hiplife queen anytime she flies out of the country.
They are however supported by the likes of Mabel Obeng Wilson, Millicent Narh, Georgette Norkor Nortey and Zenabu Abubakari.
On her private life and how she has managed her ordeal at the hands of the armed robbers some months back; she jumped to say that: ‘ I was so free and naïve back then so everybody could take advantage of me but I have learnt my lessons and I now have a bodyguard and a PRO.
"To put an end to everything and lead a simple life I have decided to end my music career some few months after this album is launched and get married as soon as possible”.
Should Mzbel leave the scene, the struggle by female hiplifers to gain grounds in the hiplife scene would be dealt with as a severe blow.
