The Garu-Tempane District Directorate of Education has presented school uniforms and exercise books worth GH¢3,000 (30 million cedis) to 300 needy pupils in some selected basic schools in deprived communities within the district.
This forms part of efforts towards quality education delivery and encourage girls education, Mr Eugene Zongo-Naah Domah, Garu-Tempane District Director of Education, said after presenting uniforms and exercise books to 23 girls and 17 boys at Zamballa.
He also inaugurated a GH¢ 37,000 (370 million cedis) school block for the community.
Mr Domah noted that the introduction of capitation grant and school feeding programme had increased enrolment in schools and some underprivileged pupils needed to be assisted to remain in school.
He called on parents not to shirk their responsibilities in spite of these laudable policies of government but endeavour to provide some basic needs for their children to become useful citizens to society.Source: GNA
