Overview
Breaking up can be difficult, especially if you were in a long-term relationship or if the breakup was sudden. Once you move past the initial shock and sadness, it is time to start building up your confidence again. This will help you as you embark on your dating journey. Should you decide that you don't want to date right away, building your confidence as a woman can help you in your career, and it can help you to build better relationships with friends and family members.
Step 1
Take time to grieve the lost relationship. Grieving is a natural part of the closure process when you go through a breakup. This may manifest as sadness, anger or sorrow. If, however, these feelings are extreme, seek the help of a mental health professional.
Step 2
Make a list of your attributes. Focus on the things you like about yourself. Think about your physical, spiritual and emotional qualities. Some examples are a nice smile or eyes, outgoing personality, strong faith and generosity. When you start to feel less confident, refer to this list to remind yourself of why you should live life as a confident woman.
Step 3
Dress with confidence. If you dress like a frumpy and depressed person, you are going to act like a frumpy and depressed person. Instead, embrace your personal style. Whether you choose casual clothes or business attire, ensure your attire is wrinkle-free and clean.
Step 4
Write out your plan. The possibilities are endless. Now that you don't have a relationship partner to consider, you are free to do what you want to do. For example, if you want to find a second job and save money for a cruise to the Bahamas, write your goal down. Having a plan can boost your confidence as a woman.
Step 5
Embrace your faith. Your faith will give you a purpose, and you may find answers on how to reach your full potential so you can lead a fulfilling life. You can also turn to your pastor, preacher or other leader for help when you aren't sure what to do.
Step 6
Turn to your friends and family for support. There isn't any reason to try to build your confidence on your own. Instead, start doing things with the people who love you and care about you. Through these relationships, you can build your self-esteem and self-worth.
Step 7
Laugh and enjoy life by yourself and with others. Laughter can help you to relieve stress, improve blood flow, reduce overwhelming feelings, increase energy and boost your overall mood. Additionally, laughter is an ideal icebreaker if you are trying to meet new people.
