Mr John Ndebugre, First National Vice Chairman of the People's National Convention (PNC) has expressed dissatisfaction about division within the Party. The MP for Zebilla, expressed the concern at a Press Conference in Bolgatanga at the weekend. He said unless the division was resolved, it would be difficult if not impossible for the party to win power in 2008. Mr Ndebugre appealed to members of the Party to adhere to its Constitution, the National Executive Council and National Standing Committee as its top hierarchy in making decision affecting the party. "For the Party to function efficiently and gain the respect and trust of Ghanaians, its structures must be duly constituted, regarded and made to operate. This is the only way the Party can endear it self to the electorate and thereby win their mandate," he added. Mr Ndebugre stated that apart from NEC, there was no organ or individual that could set a date or make any other preparation for the Party's congress. "Apart from NEC, any moves for a meeting by any persons are self-centred and being orchestrated by one person with the sole aim of imposing himself on the Party as its Presidential Candidate for 2008 elections," Mr Ndebugre added. Mr Ndebugre explained that the immediate task facing the party was to re-establish and re-invigorate its structures from the sub-branches to the constituency level to pave way for a properly constituted Regional Conference to be followed by a grand and duly constituted national Congress. He appealed to Party members and supporters to close their ranks and take directives only from the constitutional leadership of the party. Mr Ndebugre pointed out that the people of Ghana needed honest and dedicated leadership of the Nkrumahist heritage to re-enact the great socio-economic policies of the First Republic to create a conducive atmosphere for sustainable development. He appealed to the Convention People's Party (CPP) to re-organise itself and join the PNC so that they could capture power in 2008 to move the nation forward. Source: GNA.
