A Kumasi Circuit Court has granted GH¢4,000 (40 million cedis) bail with a surety to two accused persons for assaulting a food vendor.
Daniel Ameyaw and Michael Obuor pleaded not guilty to unlawful harm and causing damage to Ernest Ankomah the food vendor and destroying food items worth GH¢1,060 (10.6 million cedis).
They would re-appear on Monday August 20.
Paul Manu, an accomplice is on the run.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Appiah Kubi told the court presided over by Mr Ernest Yao Obimpeh that on April 24 this year, Ameyaw, apparently angered by her niece's complaint about Ernest Ankomah's persistent love proposals to her, together with his accomplices went to his food joint and beat him up.
He said Ameyaw and his friends also destroyed food items worth GH¢1,060 (10.6 million cedis).
The prosecutor said the accused and complainant sustained various degrees of injuries and made separate reports to the police.
He said the complainant who sustained serious injuries later caused the arrest of the accused persons and after investigations they were charged with the offence.
