President of premier league side Edubiase Fc, Abdul Salam Yakubu has apologized for his outburst after their week 5 match with Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Abdul Salam Yakubu accused match officials of incompetence and bias officiating in a game they lost 2-0 to league leaders Accra Hearts of Oak.
He wondered why after all the sanctions meted out to the referees they are still doing the same things that led to some of them being sanctioned.
The President finding the decisions of the match officials too bitter to swallow went ahead to question the essence and the long stay of the Referees Review Panel if officials will still not be fair in officiating.
According to him the core function of the Referees Review Panel is to help reform the referees but it seems after all those sanctions they are still not living up to expectation and this he believes is dangerous for the league.
He consequently threatened to quit the premier league if after investing so much in the team they will still be ripped off.
However after a thorough reflection on his comments, the Edubiase FC President on Asempa fm’s Sports Morning Show on Monday pleaded with the football community and the Football Association.
He explained, “I made those comments in the heat of the situation. I am sorry for making those comments, I am sorry”.
