Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa has said that Ghanaians deserve better leaders and he holds the key. He has therefore decided to run for president on the ticket of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP). Prof. Akosa has been in the public eye for more than two decades. Most Ghanaians, even in the younger generation, will remember his days as the outspoken President of the Ghana Medical Association during which he campaigned vigorously for better service conditions for health workers. After his tenure at the GMA, he was appointed Director General of the Ghana Health Service(GHS), a position he recently retired from. But just when everyone thought his years as a public servant had ended, Prof. Akosah has decided to run for the highest public office in the land – the presidency. Prof. Akosah launched his presidential bid on Wednesday under the banner 'Ghana deserves better’. He will be contesting for the presidential slot of the Convention People’s Party with former public sector reform minister, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom and, possibly, the man who abysmally represented the party in the 2004 presidential elections – George Aggudey. Prof. Akosa told journalists in Accra that he is determined to help change Ghana’s fortunes. He believes that the country deserves more than its leaders have delivered since the overthrow of founding president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
