The swift intervention of the Weija District Police Command has led to the arrest of three out of five suspected armed robbers who allegedly attacked some residents of New Bortianor and raped one of the victims in the process.The suspects include Ofori Quaye- 22, Tony Mensah aka Joe- 25 and Simon Boakye Amoateng- 26.The suspected armed robbers allegedly committed the act around 2:30am of November 25, 2011 and in the process raped a 17-year-old daughter of one of their victims.The victims, according to information, were able to identify two out of the three suspects arrested during an identification session.Confirming the story to Daily Guide, Weija District Police Commandeer ASP Kwame Afari said police received information that some men, numbering five, had attacked some houses within the new Bortianor area with a gun and other deadly weapons and robbed them of monies, mobile phones and others.The suspects were said to have forcefully opened the doors of the victims and demanded monies and mobile phones. Those who resisted were severely beaten and robbed.In the process, suspect Ofori Quaye allegedly raped the 17-year-old girl in the presence of the parents and bolted.Based on the information, policemen deployed to the scene managed to arrest three of the suspects.No weapons were found on them at the time of arrest but during an identification parade, some of the victims including, the minor who was raped, identified two of the men as part of those who robbed them.In all, three houses were attacked at a go and those who sustained injuries have been given medical forms for medical attention while investigations continue.
