The Member of Parliament for Ho East, Hon. Juliana Azumah-Mensah has called on the Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Mr. Patrick Acheampong to investigate the police officer accused of impregnating two teenage sisters in Tamale.
The MP who is also the Minority Spokesperson on Women and Children, was speaking to Joy News on Sunday.
She said it is crucial that the IGP carries out an immediate investigation into the matter and sanction the officer if he is found culpable.
It will be recalled that last week, the Public Agenda Newspaper carried a story in which it was alleged that one police driver, Constable Emmanuel Ativor, who is stationed in Tamale in the Northern region has simultaneously impregnated two blood sisters aged 14 and 15 years.
The two sisters are both class six pupils of the Police Barracks Primary School in Tamale.
The MP believes if the matter is pursued to its logical conclusion, and the law is applied, it will serve as a deterrent to others who might be thinking of committing this kind of crime.
